Men purportedly representing the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) have shut the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State Secretariat located at 45 Finbers Road, Umuahia.
On Wednesday, the officials locked the Secretariat.
The development was not explained.
However, a sign on the building instructed the residents to go to the UCDA office for more information, which is located at 51 Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.
In the meantime, the PDP chapter in Abia State has demanded that Aaron Uzodike be sworn in as a member of the party, representing the Aba North constituency in Abia State.
In a statement signed by Vice Chairman/Acting Publicity Secretary Abraham Amah, the party expressed concern that the Aba North constituency still does not have a representative in the Abia State House of Assembly, even though the Appeal Court had ruled that Aaron Uzodike had won the March 18 election and had removed Destiny Nwagwu from the LP.
Amah called the state of affairs “impunity.”
“It is common knowledge that the only document required by the Speaker to swear in a member into the House of Assembly is the Certificate of Return which was issued to Hon. Aaron Uzodike by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, a few days after the Court judgment and thus made him the duly and validly elected member of the Abia State House of Assembly to represent the good people of Aba North.
“Why has the Speaker refused to swear him in?” Amah asked.
