In Napoli’s Tuesday night loss to Barcelona, Victor Osimhen received harsh criticism from former Italy head coach Arigo Sacchi for his subpar play.
Xavi’s team defeated the Serie A champions 3-1, sending them out of the UEFA Champions League.
4-2 on aggregate, Napoli was defeated in the Round of 16 match.
Napoli’s lone goal in the first leg was scored by Osimhen, but in the second game, rookie Pau Cubarsi outmuscled him.
During the entire game, the Nigerian international was only able to get one shot on goal.
“What surprised me the most was the little involvement of Kvara and Osimhen, the two most awaited players,” Sacchi wrote in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s true that they didn’t get much service, but at the same time, they didn’t move much and they did it in the wrong way, so it was easy for opponents to stop them.”
