The federal government has been urged to assist private universities in the nation by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the general election of 2023.
On Wednesday, at the Madonna University in Elele, Rivers State, Obi made this call.
“Government should support private universities in the nation because they carry out government functions,” he declared. He stated that they shouldn’t be subjected to excessive fees under the guise of internal generated revenue.
The former governor of Anambra State stated that education is the most important investment a country can make in its citizens, highlighting the critical role that education plays in every society.
He tasked all branches of government to collaborate with private education providers across the nation, from pre-school to post-secondary establishments.
He pleaded on Nigerians to pray for their leaders to spend public funds for the people’s benefit rather than their own.
