Shehu Sani, a former legislator, expressed his thoughts on the Federal Government’s recent comments regarding the hike in energy rates.
According to reports, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, or NERC, approved the increase in electricity rates for Band A consumers on Wednesday.
Musliu Oseni, the Vice Chairman of NERC, declared that electricity rates will increase on Wednesday during a news conference in Abuja.
Customers will now pay N225 per kilowatt-hour instead of the existing N66 due to this modification.
Former lawmaker Sani, who served as the representative for Kaduna Central District in the 8th assembly, predicted that the hike would severely impair Nigerians’ level of life and destroy companies.
“Increasing electricity tariffs by 300% will finally electrocute human lives and businesses in the country,” he wrote on X.
