Emmanuel Petit, a former Chelsea midfielder, has recommended the team to continue with Nicolas Jackson rather than recruit Victor Osimhen.
In an attempt to bolster their attack, the Blues have been heavily linked to a deal for Osimhen.
Jackson, a Senegalese international who is in his first season at Stamford Bridge, has come under fire for the London club’s lack of conversion on obvious opportunities.
Petit, nevertheless, stated that rather than adding Osimhen or another striker, Chelsea should stick with Jackson.
To purchase Osimhen or Isak, Emmanuel Petit begs Chelsea to put their belief in Jackson:
“Chelsea do not need [Victor] Osimhen or [Alexander] Isak. We all know about the No.9 curse at Chelsea and in the last couple of months, we’ve seen what [Nicolas] Jackson can do,” Petit told Grosvenor Sport.
“There’s no need to put more pressure on him by signing someone like Isak on his back. You need competition in every position, but when you have someone like Jackson starting to emerge, don’t put pressure on him and let him explode. For me, if I’m Chelsea, I’m not buying Isak as Jackson is already beginning to flourish.”
