-Says those Opposing him are small while his Government is Government of the Majority-
The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti has revealed that his administration has commenced the reconstruction of thirteen classrooms in each of the Seventheen Local Government Area of Abia State with Primary Schools getting 10 Schools while the Secondary gets three.
Governor Otti made this revelation on Thursday at the Banquet Hall in Umuahia during his Monthly Media Briefing tagged “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians” , the Governor said the state of most Public schools in Abia was not conducive for learning for pupils.
“If you visit any public school in Abia you will not like the status of most of them”
“We have started the reconstruction of 13 Schools per Local Government, 10 Primary Schools and 3 Secondary Schools , we sat and checked what a school should look like, we got experts involved and went thorough the process of approval and very soon you will see massive work in the schools around your Locality”
“We have brought in a consultant that has experience in the area of Education to Support us “
Speaking further the Governor said his administration has increased the retirement age for teachers from 60-65years and have started a package for Teachers with a view to making the Teaching Profession attractive in Abia.
Governor Otti said his Administration is paying huge attention to the area of Agriculture and Healthcare.
“We have found well Qualified People to mount the healthcare agencies and have appointed a well qualified Doctor as a Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, so all the areas have been well populated and we have given them mandate to ensure they work efficiently because health is wealth”
“We have started the process to set out which is one of our campaign processes, the ‘Abia State Medical Village’ and when completed everything that you can find in a Topnotch Medical Center anywhere in the World can be found there”
Ok the Area of Road Infrastructure, the Governor revealed that his administration has commenced the Reconstruction of the Osisioma-Ekeakpara road and has so far completed the maintenance of over 70 Roads in Abia.
“We continued our road Construction with the Osisioma Ekeakpara where major bussinesss are located but unfortunately it was abandoned by previous administration, but in the next one year it will be completed by our Administration “
“We have Completed over 70 roads that we started maintaining and 20 more roads are under construction Accross the state, we have commissioned 10 roads and in the next few days or weeks we will commission not less than four new roads”
In the Area of Security, Governor Otti revealed that his administration will next week Inaugurate the Abia State Security Advisory Council to support robust Security architecture in the State.
“We will be Inaugurating the security advisory Council and we are lucky that one of our finest in the state who was a Former Chief of Army Staff Lt General Azubuike Ihejirika accepted to serve as Chairman of the Council, Also to be Inaugurated is the state Security Trust”
“In the Area of Employment, we brought together the beneficiaries of the Agricultural Empowerment Programs where over 200 Abia Young men and women selected for the first phase of empowerment met with CSS Farms, I have been to CSS Farms and am pleased over what is happening there, the insteresting thing is that what is produced would be bought off by CSS farms”
The Governor said his Administration is massively supporting the empowerment of Women.
“They are about a thousand women benefiting from not just skill acquisition but also Finacial support to those who have skills that require funding”
“Our Government is the Government of the people and our target is to empower a large number of them”
“On the 28th of April 2024all the Pensioners received 100 percent of their Pension and by 28 of this Month, they will receive same 100 Percent,these are our senior citizens who had devoted so much age of their life to the state, we need to make them happy”
The Governor revealed that most of the Agricultural Plantations were concessionf to Individuals and Group and we are making progress by going through processes.
The Governor while responding to a question over the defections of some politicians into a minority party said Political parties are like Churches and anyone is free to join any Church he or she likes.
“Political parties are like Churches and any Churches that you will like to go , you are free, am not worried because they are not from my party, a lot of people are also joining my own Party and more are on their way”
“Political parties are like free entry and free exit, we are not thinking about the next election it’s too early to start thinking about the next election, what is important is to give good governance to our people and they are at Liberty to support whoever they want”
“Opposition is very small and Government is Government of the Majority and the most important thing is what the Majority are saying, if you live in this state you will agree that there is different between Light and Darkness” he said
