The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, or NAFDAC, along with the administration of Abia State have launched a coordinated campaign against counterfeit medications, shoddy food, and other unhealthy products in the nation.
Governor Alex Otti revealed the cooperation to the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, and her team during their official visit to the state at the Umuahia government house.
The governor said that his administration will do whatever it took to remove counterfeit goods, lamenting the many lives lost as a result of bogus drugs and inferior goods.
He assured the NAFDAC DG that Abia State is ready to harness the positive energy of young people and direct them toward constructive endeavors, stating that his administration has already established a coordinated task force to combat bad inclinations.
The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Adeyeye, who is in the state to engage stakeholders with Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises, or MSMEs, had earlier in her speech underlined NAFDAC’s battle against counterfeit medications, subpar food, and other unhealthy items.
She organized wholesale facilities where persons who market pharmaceuticals and other connected products can be controlled, and she canvassed a harnessed MSME industry.
