Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi of Bauchi Central has been pardoned and recalled by the Senate.

On March 12, 2024, Ningi was suspended for three months after he claimed that the Senate had padded its budget.

Sen. Abba Moro, the deputy minority leader, moved to start the recall procedure by expressing regret on behalf of the suspended senator.

Sen. Abba Moro acknowledged the seriousness of the suspension and promised to take full responsibility for Sen. Ningi’s behavior. The senator’s actions during the suspension have been discussed and scrutinized by the legislature.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, praised Sen. Ningi’s inventiveness and called him a cherished lawmaker, noting that the decision to recall him crosses racial and religious boundaries.
