Part of President Bola Tinubu’s itinerary to celebrate 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria includes his arrival at the National Assembly Complex.

About 11:57 a.m., Tinubu’s convoy pulled up to the National Assembly, but he hasn’t yet entered the building.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, entered the chamber shortly after the president arrived.

Mr. Akpabio declared that the president would just listen to the Old National Anthem and would not address the assembly.

He asked the legislators to get the newest national anthem.

This is occurring in the midst of uncertainty from the White House on contradictory remarks made by Tinubu during a joint meeting of the National Assembly.

In honor of Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of democracy, the National Assembly declared on Monday that it will convene a special joint session on Wednesday.
