The Abaji Divisional Police headquarters in Abuja was attacked by gunmen who appeared to be bandits, and they also stole from a nearby commercial bank branch.
About fifteen attackers simultaneously broke into the police building and the bank on Thursday night at around five o’clock in the evening.
According to reports, two of the suspects and a police officer perished in the attack.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory Police, confirmed the unpleasant occurrence to reporters on Friday. She stated that command personnel engaged the armed men in a gunfight as part of a joint operation with the military, which resulted in casualties.
The PPRO said that the security personnel detained three people, among them a suspected gang leader known only as Usman.
Information surfaced that one of the slain suspects’ bodies was set on fire by enraged local mobs.
