On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu announced that he and President Cyril Ramaphosa, who took office recently, will be meeting bilaterally.
According to Tinubu, the two African nations’ economies were the main topic of conversation.
Remembers that the President of Nigeria left Lagos State on Tuesday for South Africa, where he attended President Cyril’s inauguration after his reelection by Parliament on Friday, June 14, 2024.
A video clip that claimed that Tinubu was ignored by his South African counterpart went viral on social media shortly after the inauguration.
But Tinubu refuted the report in a tweet on his official X Twitter on Thursday, stating that President Cyril greeted him with open arms.
According to him, “President Ramaphosa’s warm welcome and dedication to mutual respect and cooperation reflects the depth of our relationship”.
According to Tinubu, the two presidents’ bilateral meeting was centered on boosting economic relations and bolstering collaboration between South Africa and Nigeria.
“We intend to work together to address our countries’ challenges through robust trade and economic strategies, and I am hopeful that we can lead our nations towards increased prosperity and unity.
“Looking forward to collaborating at this crucial juncture for the progress of our continent”, he said.
