According to the Nigerian Army, troops stationed in the Northeast have neutralized multiple bandits, freed hostages, and retrieved weapons and other various objects while working with Vigilante and Hybrid Forces.
In a statement on its X, it claimed that in the Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, the troops made contact with the terrorists, neutralizing one while others ran away in chaos, leaving their possessions behind.
“In Ashagashiya and Pulka. Nine children and seven women were successfully freed from the terrorists’ grasp by the military during the operations. One submachine gun (SMG), three bicycles, four blankets, kitchen utensils, and a number of other objects were also found by the forces. It stated
“Similarly, troops conducted an ambush operation in the Komala general area of Borno State.
“One terrorist was neutralized as a result of the operations, and two AK-47 rifles with two magazines carrying 29 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition and 91 belted links of PKT ammunition were recovered.
“Two AK-47 rifles, one SMG magazine, nine rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and one motorbike are among the additional items recovered.” It went on to add
In a different operation in Benue State, troops quickly started an operation to disrupt the terrorists’ evil plans after receiving intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movements in Ayati Village, Ukum LGA.
“The terrorists, upon sighting the troops, fled, abandoning one AK-47 rifle, one Dane gun, two 83 mm launchers, four locally made launchers, and one rifle magazine.
Along with other various weapons, the soldiers also took possession of five rounds of 5.56 x 45 mm and 19 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. It stated
“Troops in Kogi State responded to information of a planned ransom payment to kidnappers in another successful operation. The army engaged the kidnappers at the agreed-upon swap place in Okunran Okoloke General Area, working in tandem with vigilantes and local hunters.
“One kidnapper was neutralized during the encounter, and one motorcycle and an AK-47 rifle with a magazine holding fifteen rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition were recovered.” It stated
