The President’s decision to purchase President Bola Ahmed Tinubu new, luxurious jets has drawn criticism from the People’s Redemption Party, or PRP.

Acting National Publicity Secretary Muhammad Ishaq, on behalf of the PRP, denounced the government in a statement released on Monday for putting the President’s comfort ahead of the well-being of the impoverished and struggling Nigerian people.

It called the action irresponsible, callous, and an obvious example of the government’s disconnection from reality.

Remember that the President’s security and comfort on official travels are supposed to be improved by the new aircraft, according to a previous statement from the Presidency.

Many Nigerians, on the other hand, continue to be outraged by the purchase because they see it as a needless investment and an indication of the government’s lack of citizen engagement.

The party questioned the purchase’s justification in light of the nation’s current economic circumstances and charged that the administration was disconnected from the realities that everyday people faced.

The PRP also pointed out that the presidential jet that was purchased in 2003 is only 19 years old, and they questioned why other nations, such as China and the US, which have had their presidential jets for 24 and 34 years, respectively, are not serving as examples for the government to follow.

The PRP insisted that the government reevaluate this unnecessary spending and concentrate on providing the Nigerian people with real benefits.

The party also called on all well-meaning Nigerians to stand with them in denouncing this careless spending binge and pressing their leaders to improve government.

PRP said, “The government’s decision to purchase new aeroplanes for the Presidential fleet is a clear testament to their detachment from reality and lack of empathy and accountability.

“They are prioritizing luxury spending over the welfare of the people, despite the country’s crippling economic woes and citizens struggling to make ends meet.

“It is unconscionable that the government is indulging in lavish spending sprees when the economy is in ruins, inflation rates are inching towards 40%, and workers’ wages have not been reviewed.

“They should focus on addressing the pressing issues of poverty, unemployment, and economic stagnation.”
