The Founder and President of New Era Foundation (NEF) and Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Mayor Osinachi Nwaka has restated the unflinching commitment and loyalty of his Foundation to the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State.

Describing the Governor as the Messiah of Abia, Nwaka without mincing words, reiterated that his Foundation which had been established before his arrival at the corridors of power, owed her full allegiance to the Labour Party government after God Almighty.

He, therefore, sternly warned members of the nonprofit making organisation, whose purpose of creation is to eradicate poverty from among the people of Ikwuano and beyond, to emulate him in showing outright reverence to the present government and never to derail despite the odds.

“On no account should you fight the government of Dr. Alex Otti, he’s my principal. He’s the only talk-and-do Governor; he’s the Messiah of Ndi Abia. He’s the only man who has the capacity to give us a command and we abide strictly on it; what he says is what we do.

Nwaka gave this charge yesterday, Sunday during the 2024 National Convention of NEF and official inauguration of Umuahia North and South chapters of NEF, held at Loyal Soldiers of Christ church, Ndoro, in Ikwuano LGA of the State, urging them to be good ambassadors of the nonprofit organisation, in the State.

“New Era is 1000% loyal to this government both in the spirit and in the physical and I we’re strongly in support of anything Dr. Alex Otti is doing. Ruth told Naomi: “where thou goeth, I’ll go; your people shall be my people”. So, every member of New Era should understand that we’re solidly behind the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and there’s no going back on it. Through out his eight years in office and beyond, my followers and I shall remain his ardent followers”, he vowed.

Meanwhile, the former Bank manager and Mayor further led members of the Foundation in a standing ovation in honour of the Governor, describing him as “the only Government that says I’ll do this or that and he does it. It was this government that produced Mayor Osinachi and has done wonderful things for us.

In an exclusive interview with newsmen, Nwaka explained that the essence of the Convention was to sensitise every active member of the Organisation drawn from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South local governments, on the primary purpose of the Foundation.

He advised members on the need to imbibe his spirit of sacrificial services to humanity, stressing that giving unlocks every key to abundance.

“We want our members to be sacrificial in nature and help humanity and become stakeholders in humanitarian services.”

He appealed to members of the organisation not to hesitate to extend a hand of charity to their next neighbours upon receipt of any form of benevolence whatsoever from NEF, saying their enrollment into the Foundation is to selflessly serve the masses in strict adherence to his policy.

“This world is not about what you are going to collect, it’s about what you will give to the next person. Also, I want them to know that God is interested in multiplying what is in your hands. So, we are encouraging them and at the same time, giving them focus and direction. Let them know that humanitarian work is God’s work and it comes with good rewards.

Continuing, he said: “I’ve been living a sacrificial life all my life, being a helping hand to humanity and a beacon of hope to the hopeless. I’ve been living a sacrificial life and the reward is enormous so I’ve come to inculcate that culture in my people.

Asked what impacts NEF has had on the people of Ikwuano, he said:

New Era has been impactful on the Ikwuano Community. It has been paying hospital bills for people; giving scholarships to people; visiting the needy and been doing quite a number of things for them such as paying house rents, assisting people burying their dead through donations, and even in Lagos, New Era has been visible. New Era has been a partner to Sosaid Family, which is an orphanage home, we have been extending immense help to them over the years.

He used the medium to reassure that as the years go by, the Foundation which is bent on protecting the rights of the girl-child would restore hope and improve intensely the welfare of the poor and needy, as well as orphans and widows in the society, among others.

Continuing, he said: “This foundation will be a beacon of hope to the poor and needy; it will visit more poor people and identify indigent youths that need help with skills; this foundation will impact the lives of men of God and churches.

“This foundation is out to protect the rights of the girl-child and protect them from battering and all manners of domestic violence, among other benefits.” He added.

On the relationship between the government of Otti and NEF, he said: “my followers and I are 1000% loyal to Otti and we shall follow his course and defend his principles come rain come shine. We shall make sure also that every nook and cranny of this state within my own jurisdiction is loyal to him.

In his remarks, the Mayor of Umuahia South, Mayor Ejike applauded the Nwaka for his magnificent works evident in the lives of the people, saying “may Ikwuano never lack a personality of your kind.”

Mayor Ejike urged the people of Ikwuano in general to gird jealously their Mayor, saying: “your welfare deprives your Mayor of his night’s sleep, as he enjoined them to support him unalloyedly in order to enable him unfold all of his good tidings thereby improving their lives.

He posited that the Mayor had good thoughts for the people, recounting that Mayor Nwaka had one fateful midnight, woken him up to inquire about the possibility of creating link roads from Umuahia south to Ikwuano, as he implored the people to steadfastly support the Mayor.

“Your Mayor woke me up one early morning, around 4:am and he said to me; can we possibly construct that particular road that links Olokoro and Ikwuano and I answered him in affirmative and suggested to him that I’d repair the road from my community while he begins from his community and then, gradually, the two roads will link up.”

Moreso, he disclosed that Nwaka whom he said was loved by the Governor had on several occasions presented to the Governor issues as it pertains to their wellbeing.

“If your Mayor hadn’t been bothering the Governor with issues about your welfare, the Governor wouldn’t have told me confidently that he was making frantic efforts towards rehabilitating the popular Ikwuano/Umuahia-Ikot-Ekpeni road. So, very soon, this road will become like the Asa express road.”
