Phillip Shuaibu’s impeachment as the deputy governor of Edo State has been overturned by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

On the basis that the Edo State House of Assembly did not follow due process when it attempted to impeach Shuaibu, Justice James Omotosho ordered his reinstatement to office in a ruling on Wednesday.

Shuaibu, who was present in court, joyfully sobbed after learning of the judge’s decisions.

According to Justice Omotosho, the House of Assembly’s premise for the impeachment proceedings was an unfounded legal accusation that did not amount to egregious wrongdoing.

The judge mandated that the IGP give him the security he needs to return to work and carry out his official duties till the conclusion of his term.

Shuaibu’s appointment as a deputy governor was annulled by Justice Omotosho.

More details shortly.
