Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno took Ali Ndume’s position as Chief Whip in the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday.
The change came after Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio read a letter of complaint from the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, during the plenary.
The letter indicated that Ali Ndume, in his capacity as Chief Whip, was attempting to bring down the country by his careless statements. It was signed by the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Bashir.
In his media interview, he said that “President Bola Tinubu is working with thieves and has also been caged, such that he didn’t know Nigerians are hungry,” which was the subject of the letter.
Akpabio read the letter and then voiced his support for Monguno’s admittance as the Senate’s Chief Whip.
