20 Nigerian medical, dental students abducted by gunmen in Benue

In Benue State, more than 20 medical and dental students as well as a House Officer have been abducted by gunmen.

The students were traveling to Enugu for the annual meeting of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS).

Around 5:30 p.m., the students—who were reportedly traveling together from the Universities of Maiduguri and Jos—were ambushed by gunmen in the Otukpo region of the state.

The Benue State Police Command spokesman, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the event and added that an inquiry had been started into the kidnapping, according to Sahara Reporters.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
