The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that Edo State will be retaken by his party in the next September 21, 2024, governorship elections.

“Edo, which is coming on September 21st, I believe our campaign is in high spirits,” Ganduje stated. We are preparing for that election, and since it was an APC state that we lost to the PDP because of internal strife, we think we can win it back. But we have no doubt that we will return to that position.

The National Chairman of the APC remarked, “As for Ondo State, it’s already an APC state, and after the former governor died with a number of problems, we were able to resolve those issues,” to members of the NUJ’s Kano Correspondent Chapel in his office on Thursday. We held primaries and were able to select the desired candidate.

“We are also getting ready for that election, which is coming up in November. If we win Edo, we will be getting an additional state for the party, bringing it to 21 states out of 36. Next year, there will be Anambra, which has been a state governed by APGA for many years, but we have introduced a new scheme.”

He clarified, saying, “What we are telling them is that this marginalization has been self-created. The North and Southeast geopolitical zones both claim to have been marginalized.” How is it possible for four political parties to preside over five states? What political agreement will you reach?”

We are attempting very hard to ensure that we gain more states from the Southeast geopolitical zone, and we want to start with Anambra. As a result, we have established a new phenomenon that we call the political marginalization of that zone.

“Now that we have the states of Imo and Ebonyi, we are moving into that area to make sure we take control of the majority of the states. And we shall conquer every state if we achieve our goals.

Ganduje voiced worry that political parties in developing nations, such as Nigeria, should not only be engaged during election seasons, but rather year-round. Thus, we declared upon our arrival that the story needed to be altered. The institutional goal of the American People’s Party is to remain active all year round. For this reason, we gave orders to our ward-level offices, or chapters, to make sure that every one of our offices is remodeled, livable, and functional.

“That is only possible when they create activities that will be taking place at the party offices, right from the ward level to the local government level, down to the state level. That is one; we always encourage internal democracy so that we reduce tension and factions within the party.”

“Even though you may have incidents here and there, when we have internal democracy, you will find that there is more understanding and hope, especially when you are facing an election.

“It is very important to have a connection between those in office and those who are handling the affairs of the party. That is, if you are talking about the governors, they need to have a close relationship with the party’s structure at the state level, and the same applies at the national level. So, we normally invite our officials from the state level, give them some information, and educate them on issues like internal democracy.”
