Along the river between Bonny and Port Harcourt, at least ten travelers have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen who are thought to be sea pirates.
The event happened early on Monday morning.
“It is not a rumor, it is real,” stated Israel Pepple, the Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State District, in verifying the occurrence. This morning, ten people were abducted on their way from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We have notified the security services.
Olatunji Disu, the commissioner of police for Rivers State, stated he was not yet briefed on the situation but he will provide further details later.
