Before choosing to go on loan to Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen disclosed that he had a conversation with Dries Mertens, his former colleague at Napoli.
Osimhen decided on Monday to go on loan to the Turkish Super Lig champions for the 2024–25 season.
The Nigerian international received a thunderous welcome at the airport upon his Tuesday early arrival in Istanbul.
When he first arrived in Turkey, the 25-year-old was excited to meet and greet with supporters and start chants at the arrivals section of the airport.
Before the Belgian joined Galatasaray, Mertens and Osimhen were teammates at Napoli.
The pair will now perform jointly one again in Istanbul.
“The atmosphere is incredible. It’s great to be here and to see Mertens again. I spoke to him before coming here,” Osimhen said, via Corriere dello Sport.
