The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has called for a nationwide “immediate reversal” of the price of gasoline at the pump.
This was announced by NLC on Tuesday night in a post on its X page.
The message states: “We demand the immediate reversal of the latest nationwide increase in PMS pump prices.”
Later in the day, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL, raised the official price of petrol from N617 to N897 per litre, causing the union to feel misled by President Bola Tinubu.
According to NLC President Joe Ajaero, their acceptance of the N70,000 minimum wage was predicated on the knowledge that fuel prices will not rise any more.
Ajaero issued a threat, saying that the relevant congressional bodies would convene in the upcoming days to make decisions that would be made public.
