Skit creators who exploit the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) official accoutrements without authorization are cautioned by the commission.
This happens in response to an older video called “EFCC and Army Wahala” that has been recirculating on social media.
On Monday, the anti-graft organization released a statement on its official X feed, expressing serious concerns over the way their agents are portrayed in skits.
“This, again, compels the EFCC to reiterate its warning to skit makers and other social workers to desist from using the operational accouterments of the commission illegally and irresponsibly,” the statement says in part.
The film was referred to by the Commission as a “caricature” of its real manners.
The anti-graft agency also expressed disapproval at the portrayal of its agents as bullies, claiming that this is not accurate.
“EFCC employees are not bullies.” The statement went on, “They are trained as sophisticated, contemporary law enforcement agents rich in decency, politeness, and respect for members of the public, especially suspects of financial and economic crimes.
