According to Adewale Giwa, Senior Pastor of the Awaiting The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Nigerian elections are being sold off to the highest bidders.

According to Pastor Giwa, election officials are not acting as umpires overseeing the election of leaders, but rather as “selectors.”

In response to Monday Okpebholo’s election as the next governor of Edo State, he had a conversation with reporters.

The election held on Saturday was proclaimed the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, by Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

Asue Ighodalo, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, received 247,274 votes, according to Returning Officer Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta. Okpebholo received 291,667 votes.

Nonetheless, Pastor Giwa responded to the controversy surrounding the recently held election by saying, “Elections in Nigeria are now being monetized, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission writing figures for the highest bidder.”

“It is unfortunate that Nigeria finds herself in this mess. I hardly believe that there is an election again in Nigeria.

“What is happening in the nation’s electoral system now is “selection,” not an election.

“If this continues to happen, then I am sorry for what will befall Nigeria after the current generation.

“Politicians themselves are the ones voting. Nigerians who don’t belong to any political party are not interested in voting anymore.

“That’s exactly what these crop of politicians want so that they can continue to rig themselves into offices.”
