LG Poll: There Was No LP Primary Election In Arochukwu —Abia Youth Group Kicks

Abia youths group known as Good Governance advocates, Progressive Youths For Good Governance (P.Y.G.G) has countered the declaration of Dr. Okereke Eze Aru as the Arochukwu Labour Party Chairmanship candidate in the November 2nd Local Government Election in Abia State.

In a release signed by the President of the Group, Mr. Ndu I. Kalu, the Secretary, Mr. Ike Okorie and the P.R.O/Media Officer, Hon. Chukwuma Ogbatua on Saturday, described the purported primary election conducted by the Labour Party in Arochukwu as a Charade and a desperate move by the disqualified Mayor of Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Joe Ezearu to replace himself with his younger brother as the number one man in Arochukwu.

The group questioned the integrity of some Stakeholders of the party who erroneously and hurriedly declared an aspirant winner of a non existence primary election even in the absence of other aspirants of the said election.

It went on to inform the General Public that the imaginary candidate of the Labour Party who emerged in what it termed ‘A beer parlour gathering’ was said to have garnered a total of 113 votes in a gathering of less than 30 persons obviously arranged by his brother, the current Mayor of Arochukwu LGA to destabilize the party over his failure to clinch the ticket.

It warned that any attempt to foist Dr. Okereke Eze Aro on the people of Arochukwu will affect the Labour Party in the November 2nd and future elections in Arochukwu and the State at large.

The Group also pleaded with the Leader of the Labour Party in Abia State, Governor Alex Chioma Otti and the Labour Party Leadership in Abia State to prevail on its Arochukwu LGA Chapter with a view to conducting a fair and credible primary election that will involve all the aspirants of the party.

It further explained that without the necessary due process being followed in the selection of candidates in any election, achieving good governance would be very difficult.

The Group however pledged her continues support to the Executive Governor Of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti to enable him continue his good works for the people of Abia State.
