Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been called a “destroyer” by Nnam Robinson Ewoh, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
The former Rivers lawmaker also claimed in an interview with Symfoni on Wednesday that Wike has never won an election by popular vote and that the former governor has always used violence to win.
Despite the altercation between him and Wike, the PDP leader expressed hope that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara would be elected to a second term in 2027 in a widely circulated video clip of the interview.
“Wike is a destroyer from history,” he remarked. He has ruined everyone he backed as well as the PDP. Wike is therefore unable to contribute anything positive or novel to this state.
“For Wike to win elections, they have to write results for him. He has never won an election by popular vote. Wike does not believe in elections, and he cannot participate in any popular election.
“Whether Wike is there or not, it is immaterial. What will determine Governor Fubara’s return in 2027 are Rivers votes, not Wike’s vote. Wike has a single vote, and that cannot make the governor lose the election.
“Since Wike began playing a key role in the PDP, the party started declining. He has never been a success story for the PDP. Wike has been a disaster for the PDP.
“Fubara will surely do his second term. Nobody is discussing Wike in this state.”
He warned that Wike would turn against him as political events develop and advised President Bola Tinubu to exercise caution when dealing with the minister.
