Simon Ekpa, a Biafra agitator, has attacked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, for honoring former Nigerian President Yakubu Gowon on his 90th birthday.
In a statement posted on his official X Twitter over the weekend, Ekpa voiced a different opinion.
He made this remark in response to Tinubu and Obi’s Saturday birthday homages to Gowon.
In his homage, Tinubu said the former military leader served Nigeria well and accomplished a lot for the nation.
“Your life of service to our great nation, Nigeria, stands as one of sacrifice, leadership, and unity,” Obi remarked in his homage to Gowon.
Ekpa, however, called the homage a “disgrace,” claiming that Gowon’s conquest of Nigeria during the well-known 1967–1970 Nigerian Civil War claimed the lives of several Biafrans.
Ekpa asserts that Gowon would have stayed in Nigeria rather than the UK if the country had been good.
In reaction to Obi’s homage, Ekpa continued, “Nigeria will happen to you and it will not be long.” Those that follow you will speak as they typically do when Nigeria occurs to others, just as you are openly admitting it.
