A Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ken Ahia SAN has written to a Blogger and member of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Nwokeukwu Mascot to retract the defamatory publication he made in his blog or face legal action after seven Days.
The letter which was written by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria of the office of Adedeji & Owotomo, LP Legal Practitioners & Consultants on behalf of Ken Ahia, Mr Mascot was asked to apologize in three National Newspapers or face legal consequences over the publication of the defamatory Opinion on his blog which was written by Mr Obinna Oriaku.
“The opinion to malign and discredit the competence of our client who is a senior Advocate of Nigeria, went further to add insult to Injury by suggesting, rhetorically that:
“Is it possible that the Attorney General deliberately wants to assist his friend and benefactor by out-sourcing his core function just to grease the palms of his benefactor while Ablans bear the brunt.”
“To put it beyond contestation that the opinion you published was questioning the professional competence of our client, ti also asked another suggestive question, thus: “And I ask, what does the law firm that drafted the agreement know about negotiations o f engineering works”
“Among the libelous material you published/republished is the imputation that our client is a criminal, when it inferred that,
“Therefore, appointing the law firm of Ken Ahia without going through the public procurement process is pure misappropriation in public procurement and it is treated as a criminal offence. There are many questions begging for answer.”
“The statements in the opinion show clear malicious intent to degrade, humiliate and put our client to disrepute and lower his image before his clients, frlends; family, Abla citizens and all those who know him Since 1988”
“ You knew or ought to know that having published the defamatory materlal electronically, It wil be avallable to the whole world and would be read by the our client, his friends, family, clients, including those he si managing their estate ni Nigeria, United KIngdom and United States Inter alla”
“You are hereby given one week to retract the above libelous opinion and publish same in three widely read national dallies or we shall be forced to use all legal means avallable to Our client to remedy the embarrassment, damages and loss of face you brought to our client” the letter Stated
