Protesters from EndBadGovernanceInNigeria have been removed from the Abuja Federal High Court grounds by the Nigerian government.
After M. D. Abubakar, the attorney general of the Federation’s counsel, applied to take over and end the case, Justice Obiora Egwuatu decided to strike out the claim.
Mohammed Abubakar, the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), spoke on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation when he said that he had used his authority under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution to take over the case from the Inspector General of Police.
Justice Egwuatu granted this request and agreed to the Attorney General’s plea to invoke the same clause to halt the 119 accused individuals’ trial.
According to reports, 76 persons were detained and arrested in the states of Kano and Kaduna for raising the Russian flag during the EndBadGovernance demonstration.
The accused were accused of trying to topple President Tinubu.
There was drama at last week’s court appearance when 29 of the accused youngsters fainted before arraignment, allegedly from malnutrition.
