The Federal Executive Council meeting has been postponed to a later date, which would be notified in due course, per President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s spokeswoman, signed a statement on Wednesday informing people of this.

In remembrance of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who died Tuesday evening, the meeting that was originally planned for today was postponed.

The text of the statement is, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, has rescheduled the Federal Executive Council meeting till another date to be announced.

“Initially scheduled for today, the council meeting was postponed in honour of Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night.

“General Lagbaja served as the Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, till his death on November 5, 2024.

In remembrance of the deceased general, the president also mandated that flags be flown at half-mast for seven days across the country.
