Nigeria’s national grid failed once more on Thursday, plunging the country into darkness.
Around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, there were reports of a disruption in the bulk power supply.
Nigeria National Grid verified this on X through @NationalGridNg.
“BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced,” it tweeted.
The grid fell for the second time this week and for the twelfth time in the previous eleven months.
Nigerians have responded to the incident in a variety of ways on social media.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has yet to provide an official statement regarding the cause of Thursday’s system meltdown.
But keep in mind that TCN blamed Tuesday’s grid failure on wires and generator trips.
This comes after an investigative report on Nigeria’s ongoing grid collapse was delivered to Adebayo Adelabu, the country’s minister of power, on Wednesday. However, the public has not yet been given access to the specifics.
Adelabu’s dismissal was recently demanded by Nigerians due to the ongoing grid collapses.
