Following the direct lifting of Dangote Petrol, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has declared that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) will be lowered by N50.
Abubakar Maigandi, the National President of IPMAN, said this in a Tuesday interview with Channels Television.
Maigandi disclosed that Dangote Refinery has committed to selling gasoline to its members at a template price of N940 and N990 per liter for trucks and depots.
He claims that IPMAN members who presently sell Dangote Petrol for between N1,150 and N1,200 per litre will lower the price by N50, depending on the area.
“Presently, we have been given two different arrangements on how to buy fuel from the refinery.
“There is the one that we can load the vessels and carry to our various depots at the rate of N940 per litre. Then for the depots, it is at the rate of N990 per litre.
“For instance, the current price in Maiduguri now is N1,200 per litre. So with these current changes, it may likely reduce to N1,150, which is a reduction of N50. So that’s N1,150. It may even be below that”, He said.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, the only buyer of Dangote Petrol, ceased operations on Monday when IPMAN stated that Dangote Refinery had decided to sell gasoline directly to its members.
The change follows Dangote Refinery’s announcement that its fuel for trucks and ships is priced at N960 and N990 per liter.
Nigerians currently purchase gasoline at NNPCL retail locations and other filling stations for between N1,060 and N1,200.
