The upcoming Abia Media Day 2024 will celebrate the invaluable contributions of Abia’s media veterans on December 7 at Rapha Hotel, Umuahia, starting at 10 a.m. The event will recognize media pioneers whose dedication and achievements have advanced journalism and broadcasting in the state and beyond.
Chief Frank Ikoro, popularly known as “Frank Fyne,” has spent over 30 years in the media industry and continues to anchor programs on Reel FM in Aba. His long-standing commitment and passion for media have earned him immense respect in the industry.
Mrs. Inyang Okorie, a retired broadcaster from the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA), was renowned for her exceptional English broadcasting skills, leaving an indelible mark on the state’s media landscape.
Chief Isiguzo Ikechukwu Christopher, former National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), also takes the spotlight. His tenure as Bureau Chief for ThisDay Newspaper and six years of leadership at the NUJ have been pivotal in elevating journalism standards in Abia and Nigeria.
The event will kick off with a Morning Summit titled “The Power of Media in Shaping Abia State: Challenges and Opportunities” and culminate in an Evening Industry Nite dedicated to celebrating these esteemed veterans. Organized in collaboration with leading media bodies such as the NUJ, RATTAWU, NIPR, OMPAN, NAWOJ, and the Radio Managers Union, the event promises to be a landmark gathering for the Abia media sector.
