According to SGF George Akume, God can still elect Atiku Abubakar, a 90-year-old former presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to the presidency of Nigeria.
Northern political heavyweights were warned by Akume not to run alongside President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The SGF maintained in an interview with TVC on Sunday that the South will still have the opportunity to produce a president in 2027.
As said by Akume, “If it is the will of God for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to be President of Nigeria, even at the age of 90 years, he can get it. But he and other northerners eyeing the office now should look beyond 2027.”
The former governor of Benue State added that Tinubu has maintained Nigerians’ support despite tax reform legislation and other calculated economic moves.
Nigerians were urged by Akume to for the legislation to pass the necessary legislative procedures.
“They are well-envisioned for Nigeria and Nigerians,” he added.
Atiku had already run for president on multiple occasions but failed. Atiku finished second in 2023 to All Progressives Congress President Tinubu.
However, according to some of his advisers, such as Segun, the former vice president has not officially announced his plans to run for president in 2027.
As Sowunmi had stated: “In any case, Atiku has not told anybody in clear terms that he’s going to run; I have asked him twice with months in between.”
