On Wednesday, during the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives for the President’s 2025 budget presentation, members of the National Assembly interrupted some of their colleagues’ attempts to sing President Bola Tinubu’s anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand.”
The event happened soon after the proceedings began with a prayer session.
When some MPs started singing the song, the rest of the chamber erupted in protest.
The music was interrupted, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio immediately resumed the budget presenting process and gave his statement.
