Nyesom Wike, the minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), claims he has no regrets about backing President Bola Tinubu in the general elections of 2023.
Recalls that Wike served as Rivers State’s governor for eight years on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, before to being appointed as a minister.
He was later appointed FCT Minister in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government by President Tinubu.
Wike praised President Tinubu for trusting in him during a speech at a Thanksgiving service held in Ochigba by the PDP in the state’s Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas.
Wike claimed that he had received threats for backing Tinubu prior to the presidential election and that he would follow through if given the chance again.
“I have no regrets, I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes I will do the same thing,” he said.
Additionally, the Minister refuted claims of land grabbing made against him by certain Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, citizens.
He asserts that the proper actions must be taken, emphasizing that individuals who own government land must act morally or face having their land parcels removed.
The former governor of Rivers State called the accusation of land grabbing against him “laughable.”
“I am in charge of lands in Abuja, how will I go and grab what I am in charge of.
“We must thank Mr President, if he did not give us this opportunity, we wouldn’t have known. Here in Rivers State, we thought it was difficult.
“When you go to the capital, you know you are dealing with the entire Nigerians.
“I can assure you, no matter the cry you cry, no matter the propaganda you carry, if you like give me any name you want to give me, the right thing must be done,” he added.
