Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has launched a five hundred million naira grant for 8,400 businesses and families selected from each 400 political Wards in Bende Federal constituency of Abia State.
The grants according to the Deputy Speaker is to support businesses and families in Bende as well as to support businesses growth and families towards eradication of poverty, hunger and unemployment.
Kalu who stated this at his country home in Bende on Sunday during a town hall meeting with indigenes of Bende Federal constituency, said that the payments of the funds would commence on December 30, 2024.
Kalu who expressed worry on the poor conditions of roads in his constituency, said that many of the roads and other projects which were captured in 2024 national budget have been completely reconstructed or undergoing construction.
He thanked the people of Bende again for electing him to represent them in the National Assembly, promising to attract more projects to his people of Bende and Abia State at large.
The Deputy Speaker who thanked President Bola Tinubu for his love for the South East, said that the administration has demonstrated enough determination in tackling infrastructural decay in the region as well as in addressing poverty and unemployment crises in the country.
Kalu who said that he sponsored 105 bills in the 10th National Assembly, appealed to his constituents and the South East people to give more support to the President Bola Tinubu-led APC administration.
He also announced the donation of musical instruments for many churches in Bende Federal constituency even as he assured his people that all the ongoing projects which he attracted would be completed.
Kalu urged the leaders of various communities to forward their most important basic needs to him .
