The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of ongoing construction work at the Judges Quarters in Katampe District and other key infrastructure projects within the city.
2. The Minister made his feelings known in Abuja on Monday, December 30, 2024, while addressing journalists shortly after an inspection visit to the Judges Quarters in Katampe District and the access roads, including the interchange at the RR1 and Shehu Shagari Expressway by N16.
3. The Minister observed significant advancements in the construction of the Judges’ Quarters and the access roads and described them as remarkable.
4. He said, “From the junction, you can see the roads surrounding the Judges Quarters – it’s something else entirely. The level of work carried out in the Judges Quarters is truly amazing. And look at this place; from the last time we came, we couldn’t even reach this point, and the company has now finished this major culvert. We are very happy with the progress.”
5. The Minister emphasized that the projects align with the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to deliver tangible improvements to the lives of FCT residents.
6. He said, “Those living here never believed they could see this level of development. This is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about – giving Nigerians back the hope that has been lost.”
7. Addressing concerns about the potential removal of properties along the road corridor, the Minister clarified that the government would adhere to proper procedures. He said, “Relocation and compensation will be handled according to due process,” adding, “We will ensure that all affected residents are fairly compensated for any property acquired for the road project.”
8. The Minister appealed to the community to cooperate and support the project, highlighting its significant benefits to the area.
9. “Imagine how it was and see how it is now. When it is finished with streetlights everywhere, it will benefit them,” the Minister stressed.
10. When asked to evaluate his performance as minister so far, Barrister Wike said he was not in a position to do so and said, “We have a presidential monitoring team, and they will evaluate our performance. “But I am delighted with what the government has achieved in the FCT.
