Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has stated that 2024 was a difficult year, but it finished wonderfully, following his confrontation with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the 2025 New Year State Banquet on Wednesday evening at Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara revealed this, according to a statement from his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

He also referred to Peter Odili, the state’s former governor, as the start and finish of state politics.

Odili, in Fubara’s opinion, is the ideal representation of Rivers State.

He stated: “The beginning and the end of politics in this State is Sir Peter Odili. And if he is sitting with us here, and with these other persons, who do they have with them?

“This Odili is the right face and right image of our state. These are the frontiers of Rivers State politics. Men and women that have distinguished themselves are sitting with us here.

“People who have contributed in several ways to make Rivers State what it is, not rented people they bring for dinner.

“2024 was not an easy year, but it was great for us in the end. About this time last year, we were not in a very pleasant mood, for fear of what might happen, because of the boasting of those who believe they control life.”

Odili had chosen to support the governor of Rivers State as a result of the confrontation between Wike and Fubara.

Regarding who is in charge of Rivers State’s political system, Wike and Fubara have been at one other’s throats.

The two have persisted in the cold war in spite of President Bola Tinubu’s involvement.
