Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has publicly attacked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, charging him with enacting policies that are harmful to the advancement and welfare of the nation.

Governor Mohammed characterized Tinubu as a leader that disregards the opinions of the people while paying a courtesy call to Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the Chief Promoter of the Muslim-Muslim Ticket. He bemoaned the president’s inaction on the misery brought on by the actions of his administration.

The governor added that the latest tax reforms put forth by the federal government have had an especially negative impact on the northern area, saying, “Tinubu and I are not on good terms because his policies are causing hardship for the citizens.”

The governor underlined the North’s economic weaknesses, pointing out that many of the region’s states rely significantly on federal funding to survive. He cautioned that the tax changes will make the region’s problems worse and put it under even more financial hardship.

Unfortunately, the North’s survival is largely dependent on federal funding. He claimed that the proposed reforms will severely strain the area.

Sheikh Jingir should utilize his power to persuade President Tinubu to change his mind about these initiatives, the governor advised.

The governor underlined, “Thank God you are still here today to use your wise words of wisdom in this regard because we politicians tend to use harsh words in our approach. I can inform the change we require.”

He advocated for a more inclusive form of government that puts the needs of all Nigerians—especially those in the less developed areas—first.
