The Commissioner of Police in Abia State CP Danladi Isa, has tasked newly promoted officers in the command to shun any act capable of tarnishing the image of Police Force in discharge of their duties.
Isa spoke on Tuesday in Umuahia the state capital during a ceremony to decorate 63 newly promoted officers.
He warned the officers to exhibit
the highest level of professionalism and respect for the members of the public in the discharge of their duties.
The CP tasked them to brace up for the new tasks ahead, adding that promotion comes with higher responsibilities in the police force.
He said, “Avoid those things that are capable of attracting negative image to the police. One of them is extortion and unbridled corruption. All we expect from you is what will project the positive image for the police
“Some of you are rude to civilians because you are privileged to be police officers, but remember that you came in as a civilian and you will also retire and go as a civilian. You must avoid incivility to the members of the public and respect the people you are policing. We are all servants of the people, if you want people to respect you, you must respect them because respect is reciprocal.
“All I expect is that from today you are going to turn a leave in your relationship with the members of the public and in the way you conduct yourselves so that the members of the public will have confidence in us and relate well with us and give useful information.
“If people don’t trust you they can’t give you useful information, so we must protect the people that are giving us information so that we can work together to have a safe Abia.
“One thing I have always tell officers is that if you are promoted you have a higher responsibility before you because to whom much is given much is expected.
“On behalf of the Inspector General of Police and our command management team I want to congratulate all of you and advice that now you have been promoted so much is expected of you in the line of your duties. Number is professionalism we want you to do your job as professionals”.

The newly promoted officers including the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, were 16 Chief Supreritendent of Police, 11 Superintendent of Police
and 36 Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers CSP Linda Amarachi Balogun, said they will be committed and discharge their duties with the highest degree of professional conduct.
