The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has been cautioned by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian not to risk “war” with the Islamic Republic.
In the event that the United States supports Israeli military strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, Pezeshkian threatened to retaliate against any act of war.
In a Tuesday interview with NBC News, he gave the warning.
Pezeshkian stated: “I sincerely hope that Trump will promote regional and global peace rather than, on the other hand, promote violence or conflict.
“We will react to any action. We do not fear war, but we do not seek it.”
Trump threatened to attack Iranian nuclear facilities during his most recent presidential campaign, and Washington has not had formal diplomatic ties with Tehran for almost 45 years.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, stated on Tuesday that European nations were sincere about starting talks on a nuclear program again.
Iran and world powers, such as France, Britain, and Germany, came to an agreement in 2015 that reduced international sanctions on Tehran in return for nuclear program restrictions.
However, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in 2018 and reinstated severe economic penalties during Trump’s first term in office.
Tehran complied with the agreement until Washington withdrew, after which it started to back out.
“We do not seek to create nuclear weapons or armaments,” he continued.
But they claim that we are looking to manufacture a bomb.
