A United States-based Nigerian lawyer, Barr. Precious Kalu, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the management of United Nigeria Airlines to refund his ticket money following the downgrade of his ticket from Business Class to Economy Class.
In a letter addressed to the airline’s management and obtained by PUO Reports, Barr. Kalu expressed his disappointment and frustration over the poor service he received on his recent flight from Owerri to Abuja on January 6, 2025.
The letter reads:
“I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the service I received from United Nigeria Airlines on my recent flight from Owerri to Abuja on January 6, 2025. Despite purchasing a Business Class ticket with Booking Reference No. ACJPSU, upon arrival at the airport, I was downgraded to Economy Class without any prior notification.
“A copy of my Business Class ticket and the Economy Class ticket issued to me on January 6, 2025, are attached to this letter for your reference”
“Upon inquiry about the reason for the downgrade, I was informed that the flight was operated by a smaller aircraft with no Business Class. While I understand that operational changes can occur, I was not offered any compensation or refund for the fare difference despite my request for a partial refund to reflect the Economy Class fare”
“Your staff refused to provide any refund, and I have since made several phone calls to your customer service team. Unfortunately, no action has been taken to address my concerns to date.
“As a valued customer, I expect a higher level of service and transparency from United Nigeria Airlines. In light of the above, I am requesting that you take immediate action to refund the difference in fare between the Business Class and Economy Class tickets”
“I hereby give you seven (7) days from the date of this letter to process the refund. Failing this, I will have no option but to seek redress in court or through any other appropriate forum.”The letter stated
