Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State, has warned the people of Benue not to politicize the situation of the state’s internally displaced persons, or IDPs.
He remarked that all well-meaning Benue people should be concerned about the situation of the IDPs.
Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor’s spokesperson, made this announcement.
He claimed that since the situation of the IDPs called for cooperation, fruitful discussion, and sincere concern for the wellbeing of the populace, it was not something that should be politicized.
According to Sir Kula, those who try to thwart the Governor’s initiatives betray their goodwill toward the IDPs and Benue in general.
He said that the governor was still committed to finding long-term solutions for the displaced and all Benueans, and that the administration would not let doubters divert them from their goal of ensuring the safety, dignity, and advancement of all Benueans.
“His administration understands that true resettlement goes beyond empty rhetoric or political grandstanding. The Durable Solutions initiative is built on a foundation of dignity and security, ensuring that the IDPs are not just resettled but empowered to rebuild their lives.
“By providing better shelters, skills acquisition, and access to year-round farming, the Governor is laying the groundwork for a future where no Benue citizen will be left at the mercy of foreign monstrosities.
“The governor’s commitment to returning IDPs to their ancestral lands has never wavered.
“However, such a process requires careful planning and robust security measures. It would be reckless and irresponsible to rush these vulnerable people back to unsafe areas where their lives would once again be endangered.
“This administration is actively working with security agencies to reclaim and secure these communities,” he said.
“Those who are desperate to criticize every move made by Gov. Alia’s administration should know better than to demand immediate solutions to long-standing issues that the previous government ignored for years,” Kula said.
“Rather than recognize the genuine efforts being made to uplift the IDPs, they choose to sow seeds of discord and disharmony,” Kula added.
