Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, announced Thursday that he has returned to his role as the head of the legislature.
After bringing armed security personnel back to the Assembly, Obasa revealed this.
“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” Obasa said.
Obasa was impeached by the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 13, 2025, on charges of misappropriation.
When Obasa was dismissed as Speaker, he was in the United States.
His deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was sworn in as Speaker while he was away.
Obasa challenged his dismissal upon his return, claiming that due process was not followed in his impeachment.
