Modashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, stormed the Assembly building Thursday.
Around midday, according to Punch, Obasa entered the Speaker’s Office after arriving at the Assembly building with a few security guards.
Segun Ajiboye, Speaker Mojisola Meranda’s chief press secretary, confirmed the occurrence, claiming that Obasa and his group broke into the Speaker’s office.
According to reports, Meranda’s police bodyguards were removed before Obasa returned to the Assembly.
It was also reported that Obasa’s security information had been restored.
Obasa was impeached by state legislature in January for egregious misappropriation committed while he was in the US.
When he returned, Obasa claimed that his impeachment was unlawful because it did not adhere to due process.
In order to succeed Obasa, Meranda, a former Deputy Speaker, was sworn in with the approval of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, or GAC.
