Police Arrest 300-Level Michael Okpara University Student for Unlawful Possession of Firearms

The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old student, Mr. Chidozie Humble, a 300-level student from the Department of Animal Breeding and Physiology at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), for unlawful possession of firearms.

During the operation, police recovered three (3) locally made pistols and one (1) English CZECH SCORPION pistol from his residence.

In a statement issued by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, the arrest was carried out by detectives from the Serious Crime Investigation Squad (SCISSORS) based on credible intelligence.

“On 05/03/2025, at about 10:50hrs, detectives from SCISSORS apprehended Chidozie Humble in his room at Royal Heritage Lodge, Umudike, Ikwuano LGA,” the statement read.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and reducing criminal activities in the state. Meanwhile, the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as authorities work to identify and apprehend his possible accomplices.
