The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed that Abians got exactly what they voted for in the 2023 Governorship election—a government committed to delivering results and addressing long-standing issues in the state.
Governor Otti made this statement on Sunday, March 23, 2025, while attending a service at the Assemblies of God Church No. 7 Item Street, Umuahia, within the Umuahia Central District of the General Council of Assemblies of God Nigeria.
Reflecting on the journey so far, the Governor noted:
“It was exactly yesterday that marked two years since we were declared winners of the governorship election. Someone sent me a video capturing the joy and celebrations that filled the entire state at that time”
“I want to say that what Abians ordered was exactly what they got—a government that is working for the people.”
Governor Otti also addressed the issue of pensioners in the state, revealing that his decision to revisit the matter was influenced by an appeal made by a man of God during the birthday service of Senator Chris Adighije. He expressed concern over reports of individuals signing documents and later denying their signatures, calling the situation worrisome.
Commending the Assemblies of God Church for its prayers and support, the Governor also praised the guest speaker, Rev. Juliet Anyim, for delivering what he described as a message of “Practical Christianity.” He shared that he could personally relate to the preacher’s testimony about overcoming life’s challenges.
In appreciation, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Rev. Young Alozie, thanked Governor Otti for taking the time to worship with them. The church offered prayers for the Governor, other government officials, and the entire Abia State Government.
