The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating oil theft, vandalism, and economic sabotage in the oil sector. Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, made this declaration after an operational tour to the Niger Delta, where he boosted the morale of operatives, monitored major oil installations, and antivandal operations in the waterways.

In a press statement from CSC Afolabi Babawale, the Public Relations Officer, National Headquarters, Abuja the NSCDC’s Special Intelligence Squad (SIS) recently uncovered an illegal bunkering site in Odagwa, Rivers State, where vandals had been siphoning crude oil from the main trunk line. The operatives recovered large quantities of stolen crude oil, materials used for illegal refining, and other exhibits.

Dr. Audi praised the SIS for its remarkable achievements in combating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, with over 65 oil dumps and illegal refineries dismantled. He urged the public to provide credible intelligence to aid the Corps’ efforts, promising that suspects would be caught, investigated, and prosecuted accordingly.

In a related development, the NSCDC arrested four suspects in Abia State for their alleged involvement in crude oil theft, vandalism, and economic sabotage. The suspects were caught with large quantities of stolen crude oil, Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK).
