In response to demand, Delta State College of Nursing Science withdrew the inquiry letter that was sent to student Osatohemwen Edobor regarding a videotaped event that was attended by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
According to reports, Edobor was previously questioned by the college for sharing the video of the nursing students declining to sing a song in praise of Tinubu’s wife.
According to an account of what led to Edobor’s question from the college, the compere had performed a song in praise of Mrs. Tinubu during a “health programme and distribution of 10,000 professional kits” event in Asaba, Delta State, saying, “Na awa mama be this; we no get another one.” However, the nursing students rejected his song, saying, “Na your mama be this.”

Nigerians, notably campaigners Omoyere Sowore and attorney Inibehe Effiong, had criticized the letter of inquiry to Edobor and demanded its withdrawal.
In response to the pressure, the college retracted the inquiry sent to Edobor in a letter dated Friday, March 28, 2025, written by Mrs. R. Evbödaghe, the school provost.
“The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, in his magnanimity, has directed the school authority to withdraw the query issued to you on the 27th of March, 2025.
“You are, therefore, to return the query letter through the student affairs officer to the office of the provost.
“The school authority regrets any inconveniences this must have caused the state,” the letter stated.
