To commemorate the Easter season, Benue State Executive Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has announced Thursday, Friday, and Monday as work-free days throughout the state.

The declaration was made in a public statement from the Government House in Makurdi with the intention of enabling state employees and citizens to fully participate in the Easter Triduum, which is a time for the Christian community to ponder deeply and celebrate.

Governor Alia, a former Catholic priest who is now a politician, recognized the significance of Easter in Christians’ lives and characterized it as a time of hope, sacrifice, and rebirth. He pointed out that the state government’s respect for religious principles and its aim to advance the spiritual well-being of its people are reflected in the decision to designate the holidays.

“All government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) will remain closed on these days,” the announcement read.

“We encourage our citizens to use this time to reflect on the essence of the season, reconnect with family, and recharge physically and spiritually.”

To all Christians in Benue State and beyond, the governor sent warm Easter greetings, hoping that the festivities would bring happiness, peace, and a renewed dedication to community service, unity, and religion.

Governor Alia urged people to hold fast to their beliefs and to come out of Easter with newfound vigor in order to create a better Benue.
